Invited to the celebration of the 4th anniversary of the Awalé party, this Sunday, Aminata Mimi Touré was invited to magnify the path and values of Dr Abdourahmane Diouf. The former Prime Minister recalled that “Dr Diouf is a man of conviction” having “renounced important advantages” at the time to “defend his principles”, notably during his opposition to the third mandate of the ex-President Macky Sall. She made this statement at a time when the current Minister of the Environment has been the subject of harsh criticism within the majority since his departure last weekend. The Special Envoy of the Head of State Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Mme Touré, took the opportunity to plead for a tightening of the ranks within the ruling coalition. According to her, “no one can rely on division to prosper”. She insisted on the need to combine differences in order to fight poverty and meet the expectations of Senegalese, a year after the March 2024 alternation. Aminata Touré also called on the judiciary to accelerate the procedures aimed at ” finding and punishing all those who have embezzled public funds ” and to render justice to ” victims of painful events ” that occurred between 2021 and 2024. For the former head of government, the challenge remains to consolidate the unity of the presidential coalition and to work on the implementation of the Vision Senegal 2050, presented as a strategic plan for the development of the country.
