NPFL: Shooting Stars Name Aweroro as New Head Coach

Nurudeen Aweroro has been announced as the new head coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). He succeeds the seasoned coach Gbenga Ogunbote, who was dismissed by the club’s new management earlier this week. Aweroro previously managed another NPFL team, Ikorodu City, before taking on this role with Shooting Stars. During his 33 matches coaching Ikorodu City FC in the NPFL, he achieved a notable win rate of 51%. He steered the Oga Boys to a fourth-place finish in the previous Nigerian top-flight season and took them to the semi-finals of the President Federation Cup. Aweroro holds a CAF coaching license and has prior experience with Remo Stars and MFM FC. In contrast, Shooting Stars finished in an unsatisfactory eighth position last season. The beginning of the 2025/26 NPFL season is scheduled for Friday, 22 August. Reported by Adeboye Amosu.
