Mr. President of the Republic, recent weeks have seen a resurgence of political tension through the media and digital platforms. I would also like to thank the rapporteur for his excellent report, which has been very helpful to me. All this does little to honour our democracy and tarnishes the image of a system that has always been perceived as a showcase for Africa. The public opinion is in fact a subject of debate, and the press has largely taken over. As much as we can understand the bellicose attitude and attacks of our political opponents, so our position, as a majority with responsibilities, must be different. As the saying goes: “To answer a horse’s kick is to rise to its level”. “Le chien aboie, la caravane passe” (The dog is flying, the caravan is passing) The virulent response of some of our militants, far from protecting you and your Prime Minister, you dessert.
