In the night of Wednesday 27 August 2025, the brigade of gendarmerie of Kafountine, under the command of the adjutant-chief Coly Ngom, seized 153 kg of Indian hemp at the entrance of the commune, near the lycée. This operation is part of the operations to combat drug trafficking in Senegal. According to our sources, the gendarmes had set up a checkpoint when an individual, presumed trafficking, circulating aboard a tricycle, was caught fleeing during a routine check. Despite a pursuit, he managed to escape, abandoning the cargo of drugs on the spot. The 153 kg of Indian hemp seized have been secured and handed over to the competent authorities. An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the fugitive. The Gendarmerie of Kafountine intensifies its efforts to curb the narcotics trafficking and protect the populations from the dangers related to drugs, according to an official source.
