The governmental reorganisation continues with a new stage in the redistribution of competences between ministries. This Monday, the handover of services took place between the Minister of Urbanism, Territorial Collectivities and Territorial Planning, Moussa Balla Fofana, and the Minister of the Environment and Ecological Transition, El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf, in accordance with Decree No. 2025-1431. This transfer marks the official transfer of several strategic structures to the Ministry of the Environment and the Ecological Transition (METE), including: the Directorate of the Environment, the Programme de gestion des déchets solides urbains (PROMOGED), the Société nationale de gestion des déchets (SONAGED). By taking over these structures, the Ministry of the Environment now becomes the exclusive driver of issues related to the quality of life, waste management and the ecological transition. “This transfer aims to reinforce the coherence of sustainable development policies”, said El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf at the end of the ceremony. This re-concentration responds to a declared will of the government: to put an end to the institutional fragmentation which slowed down projects related to sanitation, the environment and the management of urban waste. The ceremony was marked by the presentation of the technical dossiers and a detailed presentation of the projects in progress. Objective: to ensure continuity in the implementation of the programmes in favour of local and regional authorities and the population. For El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf, this reorganisation constitutes a major step forward in the implementation of environmental policies. “The unified management of the environment and waste will facilitate a more efficient and more readable action by the State in the field of environmental protection”, underlined le ministre.
