The announcement of Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza raises more questions than it answers. Will Hamas accept the conditions imposed by Washington? Has the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, obtained the support of his extreme right-wing coalition? And above all, will Israel agree to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid? So many questions that remain unanswered… The plan, unveiled during a press conference at the White House, provides for humanitarian aid to be delivered “without interference from both parties, via the United Nations and its agencies, as well as the Red Crescent and other international institutions”. The UN, which is supposed to play a central role, was not consulted in advance and discovered the content of the text at the same time as the public. Despite all this, the organisation claims to be ready to act.
