
Saudi club, Al Ittihad Ladies have announced their Nigerian defender Ashleigh Plumptre has successfully undergone surgery for a foot injury.
Plumptre, who has already started rehabilitation under the club’s medical team is expected to be sidelined for few months.
The 31-year-old will hope to recover fully before the start of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Leicester City star was part of the Super Falcons side that won the WAFCON title at the last edition of the tournament hosted by Morocco.
Injury forced Plumptre to miss the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris , France.
The WAFCON 2026 finals was postponed from this month to July by the Confederation of African Football, CAF.
