A 25-year-old, Umar Abdullahi, from Bauchi State has been apprehended by operatives of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) over the alleged possession of firearms in the state.
The suspect was said to have been arrested at about 2 a.m. at Akara Junction in the Aduwawa axis of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state.
The Corps Deputy Commander, Operations, Richard Balogun, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the suspect was arrested with a gun.
Balogun said the suspect has been handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution.
DAILY POST, however, gathered that the suspect was arrested in the locality while travelling from Bauchi State to Edo State.
It was learnt that the suspect had no clear destination, a development that prompted operatives of the Corps on patrol to stop him for interrogation.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the suspect could not give a satisfactory response regarding his destination and that upon a search, a locally made cut-to-size gun was allegedly recovered from him.
