The former chief of staff of President Macky Sall, Moustapha Diakhaté, was placed in custody on Tuesday 10 June, following his hearing by the Division of Criminal Investigations (DIC). The information has been confirmed by his lawyer, Me El Hadji Diouf.. According to preliminary indications, this measure was taken following statements made by M. Diakhaté, considered offensive to the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. If the exact nature of his remarks had not been made public, their content would have been considered as an attack on the honor and the presidential office. The former high-ranking official of the Alliance for the Republic (APR), who has become a bitter critic of the government, is known for his trenchant positions and virulent comments on the national political scene.
