Rencontre avortée entre Diomaye et Macky: L’APR breaks the silence and the index is being used as an excuse to attack the French government.

The journalist and mayor of Guédiawaye, Ahmed Aïdara, and the Alliance for the Republic (APR) engage in a battle of narratives around a supposed aborted meeting between former president Macky Sall and his successor, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. In his show “Fajaru”, Ahmed Aïdara claims to have “exclusive information” on an audience that should have been held in Paris, on the sidelines of the official visit of Bassirou Diomaye Faye. According to him, the French Ministry of the Interior would have noted the presence of the name of Macky Sall in the list of presidential audiences. He claims that certain circles linked to the MEDEF and the Senegalese relations would have tried to organize this meeting through an “international lobbying”, an initiative which, if it had succeeded, would have “broken forever the Sonko-Diomaye tandem”. In the face of these allegations, the APR replied by a communiqué du Secrétariat exécutif national, published on 28 August. The party categorically denied “the existence of any meeting”, stating that Macky Sall was in Paris for “an international agenda set since the beginning of the year”. The APR denounces the “grotesque manipulations” and “false allegations” intended to deceive public opinion.
