​Saint-Louis: a vigilante of the UGB is arrested for trafficking in Indian hemp 

  A guard from the University Gaston Berger (UGB) of Saint-Louis (north) was arrested on Sunday 14 September 2025 for “trafficking in cannabis and attempted corruption”. The individual, identified under the name of D. Sow, aged 29 years and domiciled in Sanar, would have taken advantage of his position to sell drugs near the main portal of the university. The police authorities, alerted by intelligence on an active traffic near the UGB, have infiltrated the local networks. After several days of surveillance, a team from the civil search brigade spotted D. The Commission has not yet taken a decision on this matter. His arrest took place on Sunday afternoon, and a body search revealed the presence of two cannabis cornets in his pockets, as well as a bag containing a Taser, a blank weapon, scissors and wrapping paper. Accused by the evidence, D. Sow tried to get out of it by offering 200,000 FCFA to the police in exchange for his release. This offer, perceived as an attempt at corruption, aggravated his legal situation. According to the investigations, le vigile would have started this traffic to supplement its modest revenues, dans un contexte économique difficile.
