Spare parts worth millons of naira have been destroyed in a fire outbreak at a market in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

DAILY POST reports that the incident occurred at Araromi market, in Onipasan, Ibadan North-East LGA, onĀ SaturdayĀ night.

It was learnt that some shops dealing on vehicles tyres and spare parts were affected in the incident.

No life was lost in the incident.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.

Akinwande, in a statement made available to DAILY POST, noted that the prompt intervention of the fire service prevented the fire from spreading to other shops.

He said, ā€œUpon arrival, the crew met disused tyres and spare parts engulfed in flames and threatening the surrounding shops and nearby properties.

ā€œThe firefighters immediately commenced firefighting operations and requested reinforcement from the Fire Service Headquarters. Consequently, one additional fire truck was deployed to the scene as backup.

ā€œNo casualty was recorded. The prompt intervention of the Fire Service successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the shops within the affected area, thereby averting further damage to property.ā€
