Johannesburg – SportsCast Africa, the 24/7 free-to-air sports channel operated by Broadsmart (Pty) Ltd, is now available on Hisense Smart TVs directly through the TV Channels solution on the VIDAA operating system.
The channel carries premium continental and global sports news, highlights, and live events and is free to watch with no subscription, no sign-in, and no additional app to download.
From today, millions of viewers across sub-Saharan Africa with a VIDAA-enabled Hisense television can find SportsCast Africa in the Hisense Channels line-up, at channel 5208.
The channel appears in the on-screen guide alongside the platform’s other free channels, with full programme metadata and artwork.
There is no need to download any application or complicated setup. The channel is automatically available on any device connected to the internet.
SportsCast Africa delivers round-the-clock sport, every day.
Its schedule covers African and international football, motorsport, basketball, rugby, tennis and multi-sport action, built around popular daily shows: Football Daily, Soccer Highlights and SportsWrap for football fans, Pole Position for motorsport, Slam Dunk for basketball and Cross Court for tennis.
Live matches and events are added to the line-up throughout the year, so there is always something worth tuning in for.
The Hisense launch extends the channel’s connected-television footprint in its core market.
Hisense devices already account for the majority of SportsCast Africa’s connected-TV viewing, making native carriage on the platform a natural next step.
“Partnering with Hisense, a market leader in the region and a brand that takes a genuinely innovative approach to working with content providers, puts SportsCast Africa where African sports fans already are,” shares Yokow Quansah, Managing Director, Broadsmart.
“Our promise is simple: great sport, whenever and wherever you want it, free and with nothing to install.”
“This is a meaningful step in building a genuinely free sports service for African viewers.”
The launch comes as Hisense South Africa marks 30 years in the country.
Since entering the market in 1996, the brand has grown from an importer into a local manufacturer, and many South African households have watched their sport on a Hisense screen for years.
Adding a free, always-on sports channel to the Hisense home screen is one way of giving something back to those viewers.
There is no subscription, no sign-in, and nothing to install.
“For 30 years, South Africans have welcomed Hisense into their homes, and we don’t take that loyalty for granted,” shares Luna Nortje, Deputy General Manager, Hisense South Africa.
“Bringing SportsCast Africa to every Hisense Smart TV, free and with nothing to install, is our way of saying thank you.
“It means the people who have supported us can enjoy the sport they love without paying extra for it.”
SportsCast Africa remains available on its existing distribution platforms, and the channel continues to expand its carriage across connected TV and FAST services in the region.
