The French Embassy in Senegal is celebrating, this Monday 14 July, the traditional national holiday at the embassy residence. On this occasion, Ambassador Christine Fages touched upon the major challenges of bilateral cooperation, the ongoing partnership agreements, and the common challenges between Senegal and France. It has in particular announced the holding, by the end of the year, of an intergovernmental seminar in Dakar. She underlined that the partnership between France and Senegal is being reinvented, through action and through a constant and high-level political dialogue, embodied by the last meeting between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and President Emmanuel Macron in Seville at the beginning of the month, and by the visit of the Minister délégué Thani Mohamed-Soilihi to Dakar last March. “By the end of the year, our two governments should meet in Dakar during an intergovernmental seminar”, she announced. According to her, this “meeting will have to define at the highest level, around the prime ministers of the two governments, the content of this renewed bilateral partnership, assumed and based on our respective strategic interests and aligned on Vision 0003″… In addition, she made it known that in the run-up to the Youth Olympic Games scheduled for 2026, France is working with Senegal on a partnership project that will reach “the 100 million euros, of which nearly 85 million euros are specifically dedicated to the organization of the Youth Olympic Games”. “This partnership includes the rehabilitation and construction of sports infrastructures, the strengthening of the capacity of the Senegalese sports ecosystem, and the preparation of Senegalese athletes for international competitions”, explained Ms Christine Fages. 2200 2100 short-stay Schengen visas issued in 2100
