With the approach of the great events that are the Tabaski festival and the Marian pilgrimage of Popenguine, the concerns related to the mobility of the Senegalese were at the heart of a press point held this Friday at the Baux Maraîchers station. The Minister of Infrastructure, Land and Air Transport, M. Yankhoba Diémé, unveiled an important logistical device designed to ensure a fluid, safe and accessible transport for all. In an atmosphere of serenity but also responsibility, the Minister announced the opening of eight departure sites in Dakar, including two reserved for the Dakar Dem Dikk public company. These strategic points are aimed at disrupting the usual routes while guaranteeing a better management of the massive flow of travellers expected during this period. “We have put in place a rigorous organisation so that every Senegalese can travel in dignity, safety and comfort”, underlined M. Diémé, surrounded by several major players in the transport sector.. The Minister also stressed the security dimension of the operation. A reinforced coordination between the Ministries of the Armed Forces, the Interior and Transport will enable the necessary resources to be mobilised to prevent accidents and to ensure strict control of vehicles and drivers. On the sidelines of this conference, transport professionals welcomed the participatory approach of the authorities, who consulted the stakeholders to co-construct a plan adapted to the realities on the ground.
