Tabaski Ngom case: the judge is declared incompetent

A rebondissement has been registered in the Tabaski Ngom case on behalf of the former accountant particulier de l’Aprosi puis de la Crse, who has been charged and placed under a deposit order since 23 January 2025 for association of criminals, money laundering, embezzlement of public funds, fraudulent access to a computer system and obstruction of a computer system. Indeed, on the 766 million FCFA involved in this case, Tabaski Ngom had claimed to have remitted a part to the former minister Moustapha Diop. The latter having been deprived of his parliamentary immunity had been lifted before the financial prosecutor’s office requested his indictment and placement under a mandat de dépôt. However, in an order, le président du Collège des juges d’instruction, in charge of the dossier, declared himself incompetent. He considers that Moustapha Diop, as a former minister, is justiciable before the Haute Cour de Justice which has sent him to prison, via its Commission d’instruction, in the Covid funds case. Le parquet financier, which is not of the same opinion as le président du Collège des juges d’instruction, a fait appel. The dossier, which was brought before the Chamber of Indictment on Wednesday, was sent back to the Court on 30 July. It should be recalled that, in the context of this case, Mr Mor Guèye, the economic regulator who received through his two companies the funds diverted by the Inspector of the Treasury while in the service of the Crse, is also in prison. Djim Mombat Ba, former Administrative Director of the Aprosi and current Mayor of Nioro, although his name has been smeared by Tabaski Ngom, was assigned 90 million FCFA to escape from prison.
