Le Syndicat Autonome de l’Enseignement Supérieur (SAES) de l’Université Gaston Berger (UGB) condemns with the greatest firmness the unacceptable acts that occurred on Monday 4 August 2025, during the exams de rattrapage organized by the Institut Polytechnique de Saint-Louis (PSL). Faced with this intolerable situation, the SAES-UGB decrees a 72-hour strike starting on 5 August 2025. In a communiqué, le Saes recalls that “Individuals claiming to be from the Coordination des Étudiants de Saint-Louis (CESL) have invaded an examination hall, interrupted the tests of mechanics of fluids and automation, then stole the subjects, copies and drafts of the students”. A flagrant violation of Article 20 of the law n° 94-79 of 24 November 1994 on university franchises, which guarantees the right to an academic environment at peace. To put an end to this violence, the trade unionists announce a 72-hour strike starting on 5 August 2025. They suspend all pedagogical and administrative activities. Le Saes demands from the university authorities the identification and disciplinary sanction of the authors (some of whom are already recognized). The SAES-UGB recalls that the protection of academic freedoms is the primary responsibility of the university administration.
