The Chicago Justice Gallery at UIC will hold a book event featuring Liberation Stories, showcasing prominent communicators from the movement. Join us for an evening filled with dialogue, strategic discussions, and storytelling, featuring the editors and contributors of “Liberation Stories: Building Narrative Power for 21st-Century Social Movements.” This event highlights youth organizers, cultural strategists, and prominent figures in social justice communications. Organized by the Social Justice Initiative at the University of Illinois Chicago in collaboration with the Radical Communicators Network (RadComms), the event takes place in Chicago and celebrates the upcoming release of the book set for June 2025. Attendees will hear from co-editors Shanelle Matthews and Marzena Zukowska, as well as authors Rachel Jacoby, Tre Bosley, and Zaineb Mohammed. These activists and narrators have played a significant role in shaping critical political battles today, including the enactment of significant gun safety legislation in Illinois and the development of youth-led initiatives in Chicago’s South Side.
