The Nigerian Army troops of 1 Division, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully ambushed suspected terrorists and recovered ammunition during a clearance operation in Kaduna State.
This was disclosed in a statement posted on X by a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama.
Makama stressed that the operation was carried out at about 2:30 a.m. on April 21 by troops of the 312 Artillery Regiment deployed at Forward Operating Base, FOB, Kankomi.
He added that the troops reportedly laid an ambush at Gwontu Village in Chikun Local Government Area, following credible intelligence on the movement of the bandit elements.
According to him, during the encounter, the troops engaged the suspects, forcing them to flee and abandon one motorcycle and 48 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition.
“No casualties were recorded among the troops, and the operation was described as hitch-free.
“Operation FANSAN YAMMA is part of ongoing military efforts to rid the North-West region of criminal elements and restore peace in affected communities,” Makama stated.
