The Nigerian army has said that its troops involved in Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two individuals suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, during separate operations carried out in Borno State.
As per a special operational report from the Headquarters Joint Task Force, North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, the suspects were captured during intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks within the state.
The report detailed that the first suspect, named Musa Idi, was taken into custody around 2:00 p.m. on June 8 by personnel from the 162 Amphibious Battalion at a checkpoint situated along the Mandaragirau-Sabon Gari road.
Recovered items from the suspect included five containers of Atraforce chemical, five containers of Kelisate herbicide, 100 sachets of tramadol capsules, and two small nylon bags containing suspected smoked substances.
Military sources indicated that the suspect is presently undergoing preliminary investigations at the Abogo Largema Military Cantonment to ascertain the degree of his involvement with terrorist factions operating in the region.
In a related incident, troops from the 19 Battalion and 25 Brigade Garrison, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), apprehended another suspect, Abu Aji, during a patrol at the Damboa market later that same day.
The report noted that the suspect was arrested due to alleged connections with the logistics supply to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters active in the Damboa Local Government Area.
During initial questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to providing logistics to terrorist groups.
Items seized from him included 19 wristwatches, a large mat, a transistor radio, and two cartons of agro-allied chemicals.
The military stated that the suspect, along with the recovered items, has been transferred to the Headquarters of the 25 Brigade for further investigation and appropriate action.
