Troops of the Nigerian Army have clashed with suspected terrorist elements during a patrol in Kebbi State, recovering weapons and other items after a brief firefight.
The incident was reported in a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, troops of the 1 Brigade operating from Forward Operating Base Kyangakwai carried out a fighting patrol towards Dogon Daji in Dandi Local Government Area on June 14 at about 11 am.
During the patrol, the soldiers reportedly made contact with suspected Lakurawa terrorist elements and immediately engaged them in a brief exchange of fire.
“After the clash, the troops recovered one rocket-propelled grenade tube, three explosive devices, two motorcycles, and other items left behind by the fleeing suspects,” Makama wrote.
The report added that the troops later dominated the area with continued patrols to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and to maintain control of the general area.
