UCL: ‘I’m impressed’ – Ruud Gullit snubs Arsenal, names team to win trophy

Chelsea hero, Ruud Gullit has refused to name Arsenal among the favorites to win the Champions League this season.

The Gunners face Atletico Madrid away from home in the first leg of their semi-final on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta’s men are unbeaten in the Champions League this term. They beat their next opponents Atletico 4-0 and secured a 3-1 win over Bayern Munich in the group phase of the competition.

Despite the Premier League giants’ impressive performances in Europe, Gullit feels Bayern and reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, PSG, are the main contenders.

The Dutchman credited Bayern for playing ‘good football’ and believes that PSG can control games very well due to their midfield.

Gullit is aware of the fact that only one of Bayern and PSG will go through to the final since they play each other in the first semi-final on Tuesday. He called that fact a ‘shame’.

Gullit told Diarro AS, “I like Bayern Munich. I think they play good football. I think they have a chance. I must say I’m also very impressed with PSG again.

“The way they play, I love how they play, especially in midfield. That’s where they control the game most of the time.

“So it’s between these two. Of course, it’s a shame they’re both depending on each other. So one of these two, I think, will win.”

Arsenal have come under pressure in recent weeks due to their concerning run of form.

They could only secure a 1-0 aggregate win over two legs against Sporting in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
