United States President, Donald Trump, says the US would be satisfied if it could reach an agreement with Iran that prevents Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Trump said this on Monday a few hours after a post on Truth Social in which he said he had postponed a military attack planned for Tuesday to allow negotiations to continue.
“We have had very big discussions with Iran and we’ll see what they amount to. If we can make a deal where there’s no nuclear weapon going into the hands of Iran, and if they are satisfied, we will be probably satisfied also,” Trump said.
The Republican said he had agreed to pause the attacks for two or three days, a short period of time.
He added: “We’ve had periods of time where we thought, pretty much getting close to making a deal. Didn’t work out, but this is a little bit different.”
DAILY POST reports that Trump has repeatedly threatened to resume strikes on Iran after a ceasefire was agreed to on 8 April, including just on Monday when he said the clock was ticking.
