Zoe, the mother of Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, has labeled the exclusion of her son from the England World Cup squad by coach Thomas Tuchel as disgraceful.
The defender’s mother expressed that she feels ‘absolutely disgusted’ by the decision to omit the former captain of Manchester United from the squad.
The 26-man team set to travel to the United States, Mexico, and Canada was officially announced on Friday.
Prior to the public announcement of the squad, Maguire disclosed that he had been dropped by the England manager.
He stated on social media, “I was confident I could have played a significant role this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and devastated by the decision.
“I’ve cherished every moment of wearing that shirt and representing my country over the years. I wish the players all the best this summer.”
Zoe, his mother, echoed these feelings, posting on Z: “Absolutely disgusted.”
In response to her son’s social media message, she added: “You couldn’t have done any more. Hold your head high … Disgraceful.”
