‘You Have Fourteen Days To Vacate Or Encounter Legal Consequences’ – Ashanti Regional Minister Issues Ultimatum To Unlawful Miners

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has given improper workers two days to keep trees and water body or face legal action.
He made it abundantly clear that he is committed to safeguarding the state’s natural resources and supports President John Mahama’s efforts to promote responsible mine. He forbade those who mine in woodland resources to emigrate right away.
” People working in the forest supply miners should leave those locations. They can be given up to two weeks. You have two days to leave the place if you are mining within the forest resources and don’t want to violate the law, he said.
Dr. Amoakohene even made the announcement that he would stop mine in water systems and that those who pollute them should stop doing it.
” If you have any purchase in the water systems, polluting the water systems, you have two days to leave. We will take a team to ensure that the mining industry returns to civility, he added.
Despite previous government efforts to stop it, illegal mine continues to kill forests and rivers in the Ashanti Region. The Minister stated that in order to address this issue, he is working with another Regional Ministers to make sure a more efficient approach is taken.
In order to be integrated with our view to the battle, he explained,” I am working with another Regional Ministers who equally share rivers of creek bodies with us.”
Illegal mine has left some abandoned mines in communities, creating significant environmental and safety issues.
