Languages continue to be released on the massacre that took place in the forest of Boffa Bayotte, on 06 January 2017. After the surprising revelations made by some witnesses at the bar of the criminal chamber of the Ziguinchor court during the trial of this famous massacre, it is the turn of Ayib Ly, one of the victims who escaped justice to death in this drama that cost the lives of 14 people, to revert on his miraculous escape. The native of Keur Birane Khorédia, a locality located in the commune of Niassène près de Passy, who joined the Casamance to lead his life with his wife, reveals having been arrested while he was surrendering in the forest on the day of the events, by hooded and armed individuals, at the side of the road. He goes on to say that their captors led them inside the bush, asked them to undress before surrounding them to water them mercilessly with shots and set fire to them. Asked how he escaped the massacre, Ayib explained that it was opened by the other victims already dead who fell on him after being shot in the back and thigh. He claimed that he had crawled into the burned forest to get to the edge of the road leading towards Ziguinchor and where he was picked up by a chauffeur who was passing by there. Our interlocutor recalled that he was interned at the Regional Hospital of Ziguinchor before being transferred, by military aircraft, to Dakar for intensive care needs. However, if the miraculous survivor survived the tragedy and his injuries, he trains however a handicap that seems to clouder forever in a wheelchair. Moreover, Ayib reveals that, despite the verdict of the trial which sentenced some of the accused found guilty to life imprisonment with fines to be paid to the victims of whom he is a member, he has not obtained financial support from the State authorities or compensation in accordance with the decision rendered by the court. Forced to flee to live with his family, Ayib Ly sought support from the authorities and goodwill to provide for his family’s needs. More details in the video below
