
Major upsets have been recorded in the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives primaries across Benue State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Results released by the party and obtained by DAILY POST showed that while some incumbents secured return tickets, others lost out in keenly contested primaries.
Among the notable winners was incumbent lawmaker Austin Asema Achado, who retained control of the Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency after emerging victorious in the primaries conducted across the wards.
The APC also produced the following candidates for the various federal constituencies:
Livinus Tsar — Vandeikya/Konshisha
Shadrack Kohol Iormem — Kwande/Ushongo
David Terhemba Nongo — Gwer East/Gwer West
Solomon Wombo — Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo
Christopher Ikper — Makurdi/Guma
Geidon Nyom — Buruku
Ojotu Ojema — Apa/Agatu
Blessing Onuh — Otukpo/Ohimini
Anthony Agom — Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo
Peter Egbodo — Oju/Obi
Gboko/Tarka – Regina Akume
The primaries produced several major upsets, with a number of sitting lawmakers failing to secure the party’s tickets.
In Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, incumbent lawmaker Terseer Ugbor lost the APC ticket to Shadrack Kohol Iormem.
Similarly, Dominic Dickson Tarkighir lost out in Makurdi/Guma as Christopher Ikper clinched the party’s ticket.
In Konshisha/Vandeikya, incumbent lawmaker Sesoo Ikpacher also failed to retain his seat after losing to Livinus Tsar.
Another notable casualty was David Ogewu, who lost the APC ticket to Peter Egbodo in Obi Oju.
For Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, incumbent lawmaker Philip Agbese was absent from the contest after defecting to the Labour Party, paving the way for Anthony Agom to emerge as the APC candidate.
