Tennis icons Boris Becker and Novak Djokovic have praised Simona Halep as an extraordinary tennis player. The 33-year-old Romanian played her last match on home soil during the Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca, where she suffered a 6-1, 6-1 defeat to Lucia Bronzetti in the first round of the WTA 250 tournament. Following this match, the two-time Grand Slam winner and former world No. 1 tearfully announced her retirement in an on-court interview. Additionally, Nigerian forward John Okoye has also expressed his farewell to the Egyptian Cup champions. Novak Djokovic, who has won a record 24 Grand Slam titles, expressed his thoughts on Halep’s choice in an Instagram story, stating, “Congratulations on an amazing career, Simona.” Meanwhile, Boris Becker, a six-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one, honored the Romanian on X, saying, “Congratulations Simo for your incredible career!”
