(BPRW) JTCHS Initiates a Pioneering Residency Program Marked by the Inauguration of a New Teaching and Research Annex. (Black PR Wire) MIAMI, FL — The Jessie Trice Community Health System (JTCHS), alongside the Jessie Trice Community Health Foundation (JTCHF), celebrated a significant milestone in enhancing primary care with the inauguration of the Annie R. Neasman Teaching and Research Annex and the formal introduction of the JTCHS Family Medicine Residency Program. The initiative marks a major advancement in tackling the persistent lack of primary care providers. The gathering took place at the JTCHS Dr. Fatima Zafar Health & Wellness Center and included JTCHS leaders, board members, staff, resident physicians, healthcare practitioners, and community collaborators. Among the notable attendees was Ms. Annie R. Neasman, the former president and CEO of JTCHS, whose contributions to promoting education and research are carried on through the annex named after her. “This residency program signifies a significant achievement; we are immensely proud to launch this new phase in medical education at JTCHS,” stated Ryan R. Hawkins, president and CEO of JTCHS. “Preparing the next wave of family doctors is crucial for fostering a healthier future for the communities we support.” The JTCHS Family Medicine Residency Program, directed by a diverse group of healthcare experts, provides a practical curriculum that focuses on patient-centered care, community health, and serving populations in need. Dr. Joycelyn Lawrence, the chief medical officer of JTCHS and the appointed institutional official for the program, stated that residents who receive training at teaching health centers and federally qualified health centers are more inclined to continue working in underserved regions. “It is a privilege for us to guide these gifted residents as they develop into capable, self-assured, and empathetic doctors.”
