Chinese companies own shares in more than 25% of the ports in Africa.

China’s state-owned companies have increased their presence in Africa by acquiring stakes in around 78 of the continent’s 231 commercial ports, which accounts for more than 25% of these facilities. Their participation includes aspects such as building, funding, and overseeing operations. Significantly, almost 50% of the Chinese-affiliated ports are located in West Africa, which includes major initiatives such as those in Nigeria. It has been reported that Chinese companies have investments in more than 25% of ports across Africa.
