Alioune Tine, founder and president of the think tank Afrikajom Center, expressed concern on Monday about the massive presence of police cars in front of the Dakar City Hall, as the Supreme Court prepares to rule on the mayoral election. “If every time an election presents a high political stake, we risk violence, it is because there is something that no longer revolves around the Senegalese democratic exception”, he declared after observing the forces of order on the ground. For him, this situation merits a deep reflection on the state of democracy in Senegal. It should be recalled that at the time of the vote, Abass Fall was elected as the new mayor of the capital.
