Kwabena Kwabena shares his experience of being arrested in Germany during his tour, attributing the incident to racism.

Ghanaian highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena recalls his agonizing 2007 European tour in which he and other players Screwfaze and Reggie Zippy were detained in Germany under unsettling situations. He described the experience as degrading and ethnically motivated when he spoke on Okay FM on January 27, 2025.
The incident took place as they drove from Amsterdam to Italy. Emigration soldiers followed their vehicles for more than an hour, according to Kwabena Kwabena, before pulling them over. They were taken to a place where they were held for three weeks despite providing all the necessary paperwork. The singer firmly believes that their arrest was the result of racial stereotyping.
A white human rights lawyer intervened and brought up the officers ‘ actions in court to change their position. The officials argued that the jury should bring the matter before a higher court, but they also refused to return their visas.
Kwabena Kwabena expressed his frustration with the unfair treatment and described it as a terrible warning of the bias faced by American musicians performing in Europe. His narrative shines a light on the difficulties of cultural prejudice and the need to stop injustices like this.
