After having honored him by making him the first Senegalese decorated with the Gaïndé de la Performance Medal, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye received this morning in audience Pape Natago Mbaye, accompanied by his family, reports the Presidency of the Republic of Senegal on its Facebook page. During this warm meeting, the Head of State again praised the exemplary career of this young Senegalese, whose resilience and determination in the face of life’s challenges constitute, according to the Presidency, a “true source of inspiration for the whole nation, particularly our youth”. The same source underlines that his “history reminds every Senegalese that, despite the obstacles, success is possible with courage, perseverance and dignity”. Pape Natago Mbaye had been officially decorated on Thursday 31 July, at the Grand Théâtre national de Dakar, during the ceremony of awarding prizes to the laureates of the Concours général, a symbolic event that celebrates every year the excellence of schools at the national level. Despite his physical handicap, the lycéen has obtained his baccalauréat série S2 avec la mention Bien at the lycée de Ngane Saër, in the commune of Kaolack, en écrivant avec ses pieds. Premier de son centre, he has thus become the laureate of the première Médaille Gaïndé de la performance.
