Police deploy enhanced security measures in Taraba, warn against misinformation

The Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, on Saturday, announced the deployment of enhanced security measures across the state to safeguard lives and property.

In a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, on behalf of Commissioner of Police Moorkwap S. Dongshal, the command said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and maintain public order.

The statement noted that the measures were implemented in line with directives from the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

It added that the command has intensified visibility policing, strategic patrols, stop-and-search operations, and intelligence-driven surveillance across the state.

According to the police, officers have been deployed to critical locations, including major highways, worship centres, markets, motor parks, and other public areas, to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly using the designated emergency lines provided by the command.

The police, however, issued a strong warning against the spread of misinformation, cautioning individuals and groups against creating or sharing unverified information capable of inciting panic or undermining public peace. It stressed that offenders would be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The command advised the public to rely only on official communication channels of the police and other recognised government platforms for credible information.

Reassuring residents of its commitment, the Commissioner of Police called on citizens to go about their lawful activities without fear while remaining security-conscious.
