Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six kidnapped victims and intercepted three suspected gun runners during separate operations in Zamfara State.
The development was contained in a post shared on X on Tuesday by security analyst Bakatsine.
According to the post, the operations were carried out on Sunday in different parts of the state as troops intensified efforts against armed criminal groups.
In one of the operations, troops intercepted a vehicle along the Kaura Namoda-Shinkafi Road and arrested three suspected gun runners.
“During a search of the vehicle, security personnel reportedly recovered an AK-103-2 rifle, one magazine and 30 rounds of ammunition concealed inside a bag of millet.”
“The recovered weapons were reportedly being transported to Yar-Galadima in Maru Local Government Area,” Bakatsine added.
In another operation, troops responded to an attack on motorists along the Anka-Gummi Road after armed men reportedly attempted to abduct travellers.
“The troops engaged the attackers as they tried to take six victims into the forest,” Bakatsine wrote.
According to Bakatsine, the armed men fled during the confrontation, leaving all six victims behind.
Three of the rescued victims reportedly sustained minor injuries and are receiving medical treatment.
