Afia Pokua, also known as Vim Lady, a media character, has demanded answers from the government regarding the looming strength problems in Ghana. Her problems come in response to claims made by Energy Minister-designate John Abdulai Jinapor that the departing Nana Addo-led state had failed to secure fuel for power generation, putting the nation in danger. This discovery has sparked heated website debates, with some calling the NPP damage and others mocking the NDC for bringing the country back into “dumsor.”
Afia questioned why the problems endures despite earlier assertions that both parties had addressed energy problems. She said,” In 2014-2015, the explanation ‘ dumsor’ was a difficulty during the NDC’s career was because they said there were problems with our generation capability. When the NPP came into power and renegotiated, they stated that the issue was not with technology capacity, but with financial abilities. So why are we returning to “dumsor” at this point? Between the NDC and NPP, one is lying. No now that it is said that the NPP has” signed two buying partnerships”
She urged the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy to check, adding,” We don’t like foolishness.’ Dumsor ‘ is a painful experience, and if care is not taken, one could go to prison for causing financial loss. There is no justification for someone to sign a power-purchase deal and still be in a crisis.
